Mammoth Mountain

Oh did I ever have a good time earlier this week. I was skiing on the eastern face of the Sierra Nevadas at Mammoth Mountain Ski Resort. We arrived Sunday, April 18, 2004 to a blustery snowstorm that dumped 15 inches of new powder by the time we woke up the following morning.

I skied well until the afternoon when going down a blue/black run - Avalanche - I severely tore the muscles in my right calf. I'll be better soon and go back and tear up that run instead of it tearing me up.

UPDATE: Fall, 2004

It has taken nearly 6 months for my calf muscles to fully heal. I guess that is what happens when you are over 50 years old! The lesson I learned is that it is really wise to get good medical advice as soon as you are injured. I didn't see a doctor while at Mammoth Mountain and that was a big mistake. There is a possibility I would have healed faster had I seen a doctor the day of the injury.
